What
Inspires Me
I’ve
been asked by friends and family what inspires me to write. The answer to that
question is simple. Just about everything!
Certain
songs inspire me: Skin (SaraBeth), He Ain’t the Leavin’ Kind, Shakin’ Hands, and much more. Certain
singers inspire me: Rascal Flatts, Garth
Brooks , Nickelback, and Melissa
Etheridge among others. The sunset, sunrise and just nature in general. Pictures.
A conversation
with my husband or an collaborative idea from my 7 year old nieces. But where I
get most of my ideas are from my dreams.
Many
of my short stories and novels have started out as dreams. The Delta Files are
a combination of an old series I wrote and a dream. Dreamland Theater was based on a dream. Life and Death came about because I was playing a video game. Sai and Endless Soul are because I had dreams about them. Especially Endless Soul The dream was so vivid it
was like I’d lived it.
Not
every dream I have becomes a short
story or novel. I have too many dreams for that. No I tend to write the ones
that don’t go away. The ones that keep nagging at me for more than a day. The
same thing with the random ideas that pop into my head or songs that inspire
me, if I feel that way a couple days later then I try to write it down.
My
poetry is usually inspired by a song or something I see or feel. Like most
poetry. Some of it comes from the heart. Some of it comes from the brain.
Either way, it comes.
This
is going to be a short blog.
More
tomorrow.
